A bunch of people have been commenting on this entry saying that I got the caption wrong. To my surprise, their page now reads — “Elin Oxenhielm pointing to the second part of Hilbert's 16th problem in this photo from her web page.” The original text read literally “Elin Oxenhielm pointing to the second part of Hilbert's 16th problem on her web page.” So I guess someone at the newspaper saw my or someone else's entry and said “oops!”
In the French Porn Department, there's a short interview with me (also with Gelding and later with Isa and Jesse Jarrell) about erotic death in the latest issue of New Look — it's in relation to the German cannibal and castration killing, which I suppose I'm recognized as an “expert” on these days. Heh. Anyway, you can click the article if you read French:
Other than that, I've got a pair of 21″ monitors here (computer will follow at the start of the week) so the editing for
the movie starts in earnest soon. First a teaser of a still from the film, and then the specs on the editing box for those that don't differentiate between hardware stats and erotica.
P4 3.2 GHz, Supermicro P4SPA+, 512 MB RAM, 200 GB main drives, 2 TB (yes, terrabytes) external drive array, DVD-R drive, XP Pro, FireWire 800, Avid Keyboard, Avid Xpress Pro, Avid Mojo, Matrox Millenium P750… Yes, I know that there are components here where faster stuff is available, but the goal wasn't to build just a fast machine — it was to build a very stable video editing box.

For those of you who are bodyart book collectors, the Japanese Edition of the ModCon Book just got added to BMEshop. We have 104 copies (out of a total run of about 1,500), and when they're gone, they're gone. So if you want one, you should probably grab it soon (it might just trickle out slowly, but you never know).
I'll briefly mention that we're also working to turn Liam's trip to Ethiopia (the article below) into a book as well, and there's also a book on the first years of
Rites of Passage (the suspension group) in the works. There are a couple other projects by other authors, and then of course the voluntary torture book by me. So there's going to be a lot of exciting media coming from BME in 2004!

I've always been interested in X-planes (not UFOs; experimental aircraft)… The days of the really far out mass experimenting in planes are over, at least for now, but there's still some neat stuff going on such as new kinds of pulse jet research and even far out stuff like HAARP.
Anyway, since reading about that a few years ago, I've paid more attention to contrails and chemtrails, the “cloud trail” left by airplanes. These ones here aren't anything special, it was just really unusual (and pretty) to see so many of them crossing out here while still being clear. Within seconds of taking this photo the winds had eliminated them.
If you want to watch some scary news, follow this lawsuit (more details here). To put it simple, a significant and growing amount of elections in the US are probably rigged, and have been for some time. This is yet another nail in the coffin of truth that the US is unfortunately no longer a democracy… I understand that a lot of people have known that for a long time, but I hope that finally getting it out in public will help end that plague.
In equally unpleasant news, an alarming number of people are coming back from Iraq with brain damage, and Bush is instituting a gag order on more and more military-related reporting… Good-bye free press I suppose.

OK, so I really can't draw pandas. Maybe you can tell that's supposed to be a panda? It's certainly not very cute or happy or funny though. If you think you'd like to tackle a panda kid's club design, drop me or Ryan a line. It should be cute and happy, not stupid and boring like the one below.
