This blog (zentastic.com) is my (Shannon Larratt) generally personal blog where I ramble about whatever I feel like that day. Much of it was imported from my original blog which was hosted at iam.bmezine.com (“glider”, although I’ve since been deleted and banned from that site by the new staff for some unknown reason).
I’m a programmer, writer, and artist that you probably know best because of BME, the body modification website I ran from 1994 until mid-2008 (where I also maintained a body modification blog called MODBLOG and managed a a cool body modification wiki/encyclopedia — again, both of which I’ve now been banned from, even though the vast majority of the content was created by me). You may also be here because of Uvatiarru, a movie I’m currently producing, or possibly from the military photo site I maintain, UnderMars. Or maybe it’s because of my kit car and homebuilt vehicle site? Perhaps it’s due to peanuts that look like ducks? Maybe you want a sportscar for the snow?
You may also know me as the designer of the first Internet Casino (featured in WIRED, etc), the technical creator of the VoiceBBS software, a revolutionary and influential telephony system, and co-creator of the concept. If you’re very old, you may also know my work with SciFAX, a compute-fax interface that predates the popularity faxboards and could be argued to be their precursor. Early on in my programming career I also wrote the first published VGA video game, as well as creating one of the few trojans capable of destroying computer hardware (by creating a feedback loop in sound cards).

(: i love how your involved in so much, I’ve only recognized you from BME. Your life seems so interesting, I’ve only known about bits and peices’ from the last 2 years, and only recently stumbled upon your blog (not stumbleupon, its just my wording).

I also only “know” you from BME and wanted to let you know that since the “takeover” at the very beginning, I’ve stopped going there and let my account expire. BME isn’t BME without glider. I love reading about your adventures with Ari (heck, I remember your first blog entry when she was born!) and LOVE the pics of the food. Keep going on!

Shannon, I am sorry you seem to be experiencing health problems. At least I saw a cane in one photo. I want you to know that you are missed on the BME scene. It’s totally gone to hell in my view. I’ve tried to share my suggestions with them but to no avail. I am not alone in the extreme mod community. I only hope that there is a future date at which you can again compete….if you wish to do so. You have the touch, and God bless them, they don’t! Best of luck!!
Shannon, I am very pleased to see that you have gone on to be a great success, even though it was apparent to me that you were a special guy 25 years ago. Of course, it isn’t the type of thing a twelve or thirteen year old can articulate, but your talent was apparent even then. I still recall very well our D&D sessions.

Hi, Shannon. Back in ’94 I was one of the early folks at BME (my pics were still there last I looked), but with the many changes at BME/IAM I bailed – went other directions.
I just mentioned you to someone else on-line, and decided I really needed to see what you are up to these days. I was terribly saddened to find you have the medical problems you do.
Anyway, as we are both all too rapidly approaching our final days even though we hobble with a cane, I thought I should stop by and say “Hi!” while we are both still up and about.
