So tonight Jon (AKA of fishing website FISHING FURY), Angela, and I start Systema. If you don't know what that is, check out this Google video showing a series of strikes and takedowns.
With my brain on its way to working better (still a long way to go), I'm also going to yoga with Saira (and maybe German longsword with her and Amanda), as well as weight training with Jon. There's some other people who have said they're interested in various ones of these, so the true list of people is probably a little bigger. If you're in Toronto and want to join us, drop me a line.
Other than that, the 2TB NAS for IAM should be installed quite shortly (tonight, tomorrow). I think I can move over to it (and significantly improve speed and allow for more users) without having to take the site down, but I will have to turn off image uploading. You'll still be able to post entries, but without pictures. I'll post about though in detail when I can tell you something more solid. We're doing our best to get it down before I leave for Chicago, but there is a small chance it gets stalled until Tuesday. Actually now that I think about it, Tuesday is better — what if there's a problem when I'm unreachable for a few days… So… let's make it official.
IAM may be briefly offline on Tuesday (April 25th), and picture editing functions will be offline for an extended period (because I'd rather turn off posting pictures for 36 hours than turn the box off completely for 12 hours).

I'm just about to get cleaned up to go out to Fressen (a great vegan place here where Sarah is the chef — new menu today, woo woo) with Jon, Phil, Amanda, and Blair… Then back here to work more on the various new projects but hopefully be in bed by midnight because I'm starting to feel soooo tired!
I'll be in Chicago this weekend for Nefarious's birthday party (just for a couple days though so I don't have any time to see anyone, I'm sorry), then I'm back here. I'm skipping APP this year but both Rachel and Tom will be down there representing BME. Then at the start of May (5th or 6th to 9th or 10th) I'm going to pop down to NY (while Blair is there too, although he's there earlier) for some important meetings.
Oh, by the way, those statistics are
for pierced people. If you include all people in the world in it, of course piercing death risk drops to so low that it's meaningless.
Anyway, I'll be back later with more, but as you know (entry below) I have been working on archiving all of the old BME shirt designs. I've considered adding a “rejected shirts” category… This is one of the backs from one that I quite liked (I think I've posted it before).
I did manage to get ModBlog updated, but my upload to BME keeps crashing… I've restarted it again, but I have plans today so I'm going to bed now. With some help from Jon, I've also fired up an old project that we should be able to turn on tomrorow (later today actually). But most importantly,
Anyway, the update is done and should be on the server by the time I get up, so you'll definitely see it soon. Trust me, I'm not thrilled about being up this late, hoping it would work, either!
Oh, other than that my new painting is coming along OK, but it still needs a ton of work… A lot of it is experimental because I'm mixing with polyfill (as in caulking compoung and hole filler) mixed with pigments, as well as layers of phosphouresence! That's just an undergoat.
Original_Sly has been working on a New Zealand take on the BME logo. I've been helping redo the linework today while he's been doing amazing work on the entries like Moko, Ta Moko, Kirituhi, Tohunga-ta-moko, Maori, and so on. I'm thrilled with the wonderful work all the volunteer editors have been doing on the BME encyclopedia. I can't thank you guys enough.
Tomorrow Phil and I (assuming he's not doing Easter stuff) will knock out a big site update, and Jon and I are going to be working on some exciting site upgrades as well… I really feel very inspired about where BME is going right now and I can't thank all of you enough for continuing to support us and believe in us, and most of all being a part of this big extended family of people working hard to keep life special.
Anyway, that's the logo that Original Sly drew. It still needs a lot of work (this is just drawn with fashion markers, not on a computer, although of course the wood grain and embossing effect is photoshopped on). Credit for the design goes to him. And let me emphasize:
first draft!
Other than that I've been talking to a lot of really cool girls here about the project mentioned in the previous two entries. I'm quite thrilled about the enthusiasm and think it's going to be very fun.
In relation to the previous entry, I wanted to share two of the previous BMEgirls to show that I'm open to a range of pinups… Some nice submissions so far, but I want to remind people that if you're doing a full body pose (rather than one I'll crop), please make sure your whole body (including your feet) are in the picture because it'll make the redrawing easier.
And happy birthday to one of the official “BMEgirls” today — Corrie turns 31!
Other than that, I'm so tired today… I think I'm going to try and go to bed early today and get my sleep schedule reset. It's catching up on me and I feel pretty wiped out from these late night playing with the wiki and other new toys.
