I'm not a big fan of sweet potatoes so I wasn't totally sure if I'd like it but it turned out pretty well.
For whatever reason, a disturbing percentage of AOL users are, to put it kindly, not the brightest folks. Because of that, they occasionally get IAM.BMEZINE.COM and AOL.COM confused (presumably because of the similarity between “IAM” and “AIM”, as if that was an excuse) and complain to me of all people about other users on AOL. I read today that 80% of charity soup kitchen customers in the UK are not actually impoverished, but are simply too lazy to bother cooking… I guess they see it as an easy way to give in to Belphegor while avoiding purging ones on the fourth terrace of purgatory. Outside of the issues of embezzlement, I really think they're missing out on something positive by skipping preparing their own meals.
On that theme, here's what I made for lunch today. It's garlic-fried okra and zucchini on a bed of whole wheat couscous with a sour and spicy raspberry sauce and a garnish of sprouts. Total preparation and cooking time is about ten minutes.
The okra and zucchini are just fried in a touch of oil with fresh garlic for about six minutes (the sauce is added afterwards, not during the cooking), and there's not really much to tell about the couscous (mix fifty-fifty with boiling water and let sit for eight minutes, duh). Anyway, it was delicious.
So we're moved into the new house (not our house on Revolution Street that some of you were at for the suspensions after BMEfest, but a new rental). It's a lot nicer than the old place — bigger, better privacy, a nice walled yard, hottub, garage, super-fast (by Mexican standards) internet, and so on, although it is a little more rough around the edges in places and there's an occasional “oh my god, I'm living in a sewer” kickback stench from somewhere in the area.
I have a new workroom. Not that it's that exciting but here's where I do what I do… You know you're jealous of the Paddington Bear wallpaper, biatch.

Staying in conspiracy land, toxic waste could make New Orleans “unsafe for a decade”, and post-Katrina infections are starting to kill people. Now, those infections were expected and more will follow (cough — bird flue — cough), but there are also multiple Level-3 biowarfare labs that were potentially opened up by the storm. Bioweaponized baboons roaming the flooded streets? Definitely makes a better science fiction movie than rumors of alligators feasting on corpses.
But at least it's profitable, right?
In more worldly news, China (which has increasing amounts of economic control over America) is pouring its profits into modernizing its military. With America squandering its resources on wars and mismanaged disasters that do little to help the people and a lot to help the megacorporations, inside a fifteen year window you could easily see America no longer be the dominant military superpower… and with new plans for nuclear first strikes announced, coupled with active testing of missiles designed to hit China (who are “secretly” developing an ICBM program themselves), you have to wonder when that clash will break out. China is a far more formidable enemy than Iraq!
