The Book

I mentioned it before, but here's proof:

You'd think that by now I'd be comfortable using computers to design stuff, but I never do. To do the ModCon book, I physically build a miniature version with the right number of pages. Then I print out a thumbnail of every photo that'll go in the book — there are a lot, since this is three years of media now. Then I glue everything together… When I'm finally got everything decided on, I fire up Quark.

I shouldn't do this…

…but here are a few of the tamer photos from the ModCon book. Don't expect many more posted — work is progressing furiously. I have hundreds of little thumbnails printed out and am covered in glue as I assemble a miniature prototype by hand. Even though I've used computers since I was sperm and an egg, I'm still more comfortable doing some things in the real world.

I went to the dump today. On the way there I watched a guy in a silver Ferrari F355 get pulled over for speeding… I've got to start carrying my camera more.

Come hang out with us

Due to insane temperatures slowing down shooting (well, you tell me — we have over 500 photos, is that slow?) we still have quite a bit of large format film left over from ModCon to kill off. So on August 12th, 2001 (Sunday), we are having a suspension and pulling party here in Toronto. Please note that this is NOT an open BBQ. You can't come unless you are either getting suspended, part of iWasCured, or coming as a guest of one of the suspendees…

Anyway, if we'll have the large format set up to shoot, so a really wonderful document of the event will be produced. If you'd like to take part there in either suspension or in pulling, let Phil know via his IAM page, or email him at suspension@bmezine.com.

Hanging out with family

The iWasCured tower saw some more use last night… Sorry the pictures are blurry, but when I shoot suspension, I don't use a flash, even at night. First because I like the “frozen in time” look you get with a long shutter time, but more importantly, because I'd feel like an ass if my inconsiderate use of a flash hurt the person's experience. Some wonderful things happened last night, here are a few of them:

Choices, choices…

Do I get a blue t-top 77 or a red convertible 72 with sidepipes…. hmm….
