Some quick video of The Matadors

OK, this is just quick footage grabbed from my digital camera which I only had the sense to start taking video (15FPS, sorry) with at the end of the night (Steve shot on a much nicer camera so we may see some of that later). This is from when the The Matadors played the double set with The Legendary Klopeks (although this particular footage is just the Matadors). If you like what you hear, please be sure to check out their new CD at The Matadors or go see them live. It's seriously one of the best performances I've seen in years, and the band-duel brings it up a level for sure.

Thanks again to all three bands. Not mentioned above, the opening band was My Flea Circus who you may remember as Organical from BMEfest 2003 in Tweed. By the way, if anyone else wants to share their BMEfest videos (I didn't get any from the performances) you can either send them to me if you have time or even just post them to YouTube or something to share.

Now to start planning 2007! I think everything came together really well (thanks Orbax et al) and went off without a hitch or arrest, but I've got some neat ideas for next year that'll need a bigger venue and more time to arrange permits and all that (and I'm hoping that maybe we can convince Rachel to throw another ModProm). Thank you again to everyone who came and made the event a success.

Whew!

Great day and night yesterday…

The park was nice of course and relaxing, but that Matadors and The Legendary Klopeks double band battle finalé was pretty mind blowing, one of the best concerts I've ever been to of all time. I just love the show they put on, and of course Orbax did a hilarious job as MC (and a fun show with Polly). Ella did a couple of very fun burlesque acts as well, and after a bit of battling with some sound issues, My Flea Circus put on a good performance as well. We finished off with Kilean and I lighting a huge fireworks show at the same time as Zidney Fiendish did a great combination fire spinning and blowing act. Oh, and of course Havve did a wonderful knee suspension moving through a series of emotions.

I'm still tired so I hope I didn't miss anyone — thanks also to DJ Peko (who also provided the location) and Saira for filling in the gaps — and of course thanks of all most to everyone who came. Seriously, so many thank yous are owed! Oh, and as trivia I think we had about 185 people in the evening (a few more during the day) total (since that's about how many BMEfest shirts were sold). In an hour or two I'm going to go do a quick cleanup of the space and then I think head over to Le Commensal for lunch around two o'clock.

Anyway, I have lots more pictures and maybe some video as well — and if you're the guy that was wearing the “two girls short of a threesome” shirt and shooting with (I think) a VX-2000, I've forgotten your IAM name so please drop me a line and let me know what you're doing with that footage and if I can get a copy to post or just check out.

Oh and point of trivia — this is the first BMEfest that I haven't had even a single beer at!

And something for the staff too…

I almost forgot to make the staff (performers and so on) laniards and IDs! Hope I didn't miss anything else.

Well, I'm going to bed soon. I know some people are staying up late with Badur to watch Cum on my Tattoo and so on and various other parties, but I'm crashing out early and getting as much sleep as I can. See you all tomorrow at the park and beyond. I'll be there at 10:30 or so probably; details are on the event page.

Now that's a full car

So other than a little moving of stuff from one place to another tonight, I'm pretty much done for the day. I'm planning on getting as much sleep as possible tonight because I've been getting far too little. Anyway, I think I'm going to draw a bit with Nefarious, move that stuff, have some sushi at home for supper, and like I said try and get to bed early because tomorrow is a long day.

Yes, all that beer (for staff and performers), the sound gear and related hardware, groceries, and of course Phil and I, all fit. Porsches are surprisingly roomy. I'll be at the park around 10:30. If you need last minute information or directions, they're on the event page.

BMEfest shirt tickets printed

Ack, it turns out that my printer won't print on cardstock, so my fancy card paper didn't work at all. So Phil and I did them on normal paper, cut them all out by hand, and then hand laminated them all. Now we're off to pick up the remaining supplies on the list and then I think I'm done until tomorrow morning! Yay! Oh, and I think I'm going to pick up a cheap umbrella or raincoat just in case there's intermittant rain tomorrow. I can't wait to see everyone (and to launch the fireworks)!
