Gardens

So I went to bed before Rachel last night, who was up later reading a great book on communes. As such, I obviously fell asleep by myself… Not good! I spent most of the night having horrible nightmares… Now I could continue this dark trend and tell you all about the new violations by the military and the police, but I have a different story.

My next door neighbor (on the other side of the empty lot) is this crazy old Portugese guy with a lot of empty land that last year was overgrown and full of garbage. He spent last fall and winter cleaning it, and building old world twig fencing around it — I just assumed he was crazy. Then this spring, I saw him laying irrigation and drainage tiles, and beginning to plant. So now, in the middle of downtown Toronto, is a thriving farm! It always makes me feel better to walk past it:

Playing the tourist

I went to my second MSC event (hosted by Gary), along with Jon and Nick, and later Rachel. This month's event was a trip up the CN Tower, and I think next month is the Toronto Zoo (although there are some nudists pushing for Hanlan's Point — you can vote on Gary's page). Anyway, here are some photos I took today:

Looking up at the CN tower from outside. It's the tallest building in the world!

They swept us for bombs with a very scary portal.

You have to admit that's the best exit sign you've ever seen.

Going up the elevator — the whole trip took just under a minute.

This is the airport I learned to fly at, and in the very bottom you can see Violetsoda's big boat.

It's the BME HQ!

Looking out over the observation deck. As a point of trivia, the tower can handle 260 kph winds.

That's just mesh — the weather was wonderful, it was so much cooler than the ground.

It's Ontario Place.

The golf course is for the expensive waterfront condos.

Roy Thompson Hall is one of the cooler pieces of downtown architecture.

This is looking down through the glass floor of the CN Tower.

We had to wait 40 minutes for the glass-enclosed down elevator…

…which dropped us off in the gift shop of course!

“WHY ISN'T RACHEL HERE?”

Honestly, we had a good time.

In Toronto?

From Saira's page

"[Yesterday] a chasidic Jewish man ... was stabbed to death ... by a young group of three people, described by witnesses as skinheads. He was helping his son with car trouble when the skinheads attacked him on Bathurst Street. This was not an act of random violence. Nazi skinheads have been testing the waters to spread their racist hate in the streets of Toronto. Racist attacks have already targeted Mosques and Synagogues.

Boneheads have felt comfortable enough to start putting on shows in the city, shows that are drawing more and more people. I myself have seen boneheads walking through communities that are predominantly 'of colour' proudly displaying their hate badges. Something needs to be done now to stop the new influx of hate in this city, we cannot allow anymore people to die at the hands of racist thugs. We also cannot rely solely upon law enforcement to do this for us. Those of us who may be old enough to remember the fight against the Heritage Front in Toronto some ten years ago, should understand what I specifically mean by that last point."

It's official: America is really messed up.

The US has now announced that it will by “hiring” (I'm not sure that you even get paid, but turning down the job would be a bad idea) 24 million domestic informants for its new “Terrorism Information and Prevention System” (TIPS, related to the highly suspect Citizen Corps agency). This is not a benign “neighborhood watch” — this is about reporting your neighbor for being potentially “anti-American” or “unpatriotic” or “a bit dark with an accent”. They are specifically targetting letter carriers, utility employees, truck drivers, and anyone else that has no-warrant-needed access to homes, businesses, and transport systems.

They're rolling this out next month in ten cities with about a million employees, and then across the nation. Any information gathered will not be confirmed — it will simply be added to your record without you being told (assuming action isn't taken on it). This information will be shared across all agencies, not just the one that originally gathered it.

Now for the scariest part: all of this is being coordinated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), which has the power to operate totally above the law. As many of you know, some of FEMA's sweeping powers, which are now linked to domestic intelligence, include:

  • Taking control of all transportation systems including seaports and airports.
  • Taking control of all communications media.
  • Taking control of all electrical, gas, mineral, and other power systems.
  • Taking control of all farms and food resources.
  • Allows for the formation of non-consensual civilian work brigades.
  • Taking over all health, education, and welfare systems.
  • Allows the Postmaster General to institute a national registration of all people.
  • Allows the government to take posession of all airports and aircraft, both private, public, and commercial.
  • Allows the government to relocate people at will.
  • Taking control over the judicial system and the penal system and have control over all aliens and tourists.
  • If a state of emergency is declared, including a “War On Terror”, Congress has no right to even review FEMA actions for six months.

Implantogoria

A few days ago I mentioned in QOD that I'd be posting pix of implant tissue resorption. I added some to BME/Risks, but I thought I'd post the higher res versions here while I was at it. This was a Teflon dome implant placed on the sternum and kept in for about eight months. It was done by a very well known practitioner who's name I'll leave out of this because it's not relevant (except that they knowingly mislead the client about the risks in my opinion) since it'll happen no matter who does the procedure.

Anyway, in the first photo you can see the white Teflon dome being removed. The white in the second two photos is not the Teflon — the Teflon is already gone in those photos. That is what's left of the sternum. It was hard to get good shots of it, but you can see that the implant has rubbed down through all the tissue on top of the bone, and has started eroding the sternum itself.

Now what if that had been nerves and muscle instead of just bone and cartilage?
