Bleep

Just got back from doing laundry — while I was there I got a lot of work done on the new BMEshop software… I'm building it to be portable as well, so maybe I'll actually make it a product that I sell. I think it would be good for a lot of small businesses, especially those selling “unusual” items.

While I was out I also picked up some new CDs that I'm looking forward to listening to (and maybe using on upcoming videos as well) — some Ladytron, fuxa, Parsley Sound, American Analog Set, Rothko, Vincent Gallo, The Bees, and the reindeer section. I'm a little embarassed to admit it, but I'm totally nuts over that Ladytron album (604) right now.

I have been noticing something odd lately that I wanted to mention. It's been going on since I got this goofy new hairdo (the funny moooostache mostly, but the 18th century gunslinger hair as well). I'm getting hit on constantly (and not just by the sole target of my affections)! It's really weird… So many people that I've known casually for a long time are coming up to me and starting the conversation with “I don't know what it is, but there's something new about you — you're really looking good — you look really cute!”. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the pigman.

George: I wish there were pigmen. You get a few of these pigmen walking around I'm looking a whole lot better. Then if somebody wants to fix me up at least they could say, "Hey he's no pig-man!"

Jerry: Believe me, there'd be plenty of women going for the pig-men. No matter what the deformity you'll find some group of perverts attracted to it. "Oooo that little tail turns me on."

I can certainly confirm — as can many of you — that the odder (and funnier) one makes one's appearance, the more attractive one gets, at least to a subsector of the population… The animal kingdom confirms this as well by the way. This “instict to the odd” runs very deep and is absolutely primal.

PS. Bad picture, but you get the point.

Uh oh!

Well, I'm quite surprised I didn't get more heavily attacked for the previous entry. Anyway, as you know yesterday I got caught up in “emergency security upgrades”, but today I'm back on track with the iam.UserMatch functions as well as non-IAM work (so if the iampedit module is up and down today, that's why).

I do see that now the FBI is being allowed to search not only library records, but commercial records as well. This does not bode well for me at all. Let's look at a few books that I've ordered from Amazon lately:

  • American Holocaust: The Conquest of the New World
  • Rebel Hearts: Journeys Within the Ira's Soul
  • Walden and Resistance to Civil Government
  • Living My Life (Emma Goldman)
  • The Dynamics of Military Revolution, 1300-2050
  • Citizens: A Chronicle of the French Revolution
  • Medicine For The Backcountry, 3rd Edition
  • The Secession of Quebec and the Future of Canada
  • Hammer and Hoe: Alabama Communists During the Great Depression
  • Black Sun: Aryan Cults, Esoteric Nazism and the Politics of Identity
  • Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex
  • Mau Mau from Below
  • A Little Matter of Genocide: Holocaust and Denial in the Americas, 1492 to the Present
  • In God's Country: The Patriot Movement and the Pacific Northwest
  • Detroit, I Do Mind Dying: A Study in Urban Revolution
  • Prison Memoirs of an Anarchist (Alexander Berkman)
  • Free Land: Free Love: Tales of a Wilderness Commune
  • All Things Censored (Mumia Abu-Jamal)
  • Alaska Gardening Guide

Somehow I think these are not the things one should have in the government's databases…

The question is, I guess, will they get me before America falls? I also wonder, since it's all connected, how long the average American will continue to support Israel, especially now that it's starting to more publicly push through its Jews only policies. That's right. Arab? Christian? Go to the back of the bus. It's the law… And if you don't like it, we'll have some international thugs kill your family (if you complain, we'll pay you $200 for every dead relative, and $75 for the wounded to “make up for it”).

Strike

There is a Toronto garbage strike going on right now. The Toronto garbage men receive a salary of $56,000 a year and have job benefits and security unrivaled in the private sector. They are demanding both increased wages and increased benefits and job security, and now inside Toronto City workers are on strike along with the outside workers so almost every public city service has been disrupted.

I understand the good that unions have done historically to help increase minimum wages and bring equality to the working class, but this is fundamentally wrong. This union is a vile version of anything positive they were in the past. Let's take a look at some of the facts that lay out the foundation of this particular garbage strike:

  1. Garbage men and other unionized public sector worker are currently making far more than similar workers in the private sector. Not only that, but unskilled union labor is making more than skilled private labor.
  2. Every dollar more that union workers get is a dollar taken away from a taxpayer (and thus a reduction in their income). This is not about equal pay or living wages — this is about greed and criminally increasing the quality of life of the unionized worker over the private worker. It is unbalanced, unjust, and it is an attempt to create a new “upper working class” which has no concern for worker's rights.
  3. Because the city has contracted with the union to provide garbage service, they can not legally hire private contractors. As far as I'm concerned, the minute the garbage union ceased providing service, it broke the contract, and every last one of them deserves to be fired. If you don't do the job you are being paid to do, you don't deserve the job. If you don't like the wage or conditions, why did you take the job in the first place?
  4. When the strike is over, the union workers will be paid double time or more to “catch up”. So every day they strike is a day they will eventually be paid even more than they'd be paid if they just went to work, essentially making it in their best interests to stay on strike and not come to a resolution.

Now I'd like to mention a few things about the tactics of this strike:

  1. The dates were specifically chosen to coincide with Toronto's largest international tourist events. This is a corrupt action — unions are attacking private citizens and private businesses in Toronto in an attempt to sway the politicians. I hope it doesn't work, and I hope they're digging their own grave.
  2. Union thugs are physically threatening and impeding private garbage pickup companies, even though they have no authority over them legally (and these companies operate at all times; it's not as if they're replacing union workers). Union websites give advice on the most effective way to threaten private workers, and recommend things like “picket at night as well”. What's next? Burning crosses on lawns?
  3. Union thugs and strikers are physically threatening and hindering private citizens. Not only that, but they are specifically targeting citizens in expensive cars (I guess class-ism is OK when it goes the other way around, right?). Yeah, it's real funny to block and threaten the girl in the Porsche — she's really going to sympathize with your lazy ass sitting outside smoking, bringing home more money than she does, and laughing about it with your friends as you get paid to terrorize the public.
  4. Union thugs and strikers sabotaged all automated systems before leaving work, and continue to do so. As all Trekkies know, the word sabotage comes from workers in the industrial revolution who threw their sabot (wooden shoes) into the machines in an attempt to keep their jobs. It didn't work then, and it won't work now.

I certainly support someone's right to unionize and strike, and I believe in a fair living wage… but that's not what's going on here. Under no circumstances do I support a union's right to use the public as pawns, nor do I support them criminally strong-arming their way into harming the public in an attempt to achieve an unjustly high wage for their members, nor to I support them stealing from the public.

Unions no longer care about social justice. Sure, that's the banner they fly, but unions are protectionist criminal organizations that have zero interest in anyone but themselves. This union deserves to be broken, and this workforce deserves to be replaced with private contracts — not because private contracts are better, but because the union's corruption has made it the only option.

So… If you see these people on strike, don't honk in support. They're just another in the long line of corrupt organizations out to steal from you, and be given handouts they have not worked for. They are a part of the problem at this point. Vote to break this union, vote to break this strike, and if you are threatened by a union thug or striker, retaliate to the full extent of the law. This is not a just action on their part, and they need to get this message.

On the subject of death

This article by Professor Charles Mercieca on the weapons industry (the main source of terrorism in the world which survives by encouraging wars around the world and funding themselves via fear), begins with the following question:

What is the difference between the massacre of 5,000 innocent civilians killed by a lawless group of virtually unknown origin and the massacre of 5,000 innocent civilians massacred by a legally existing agency known as the military?

Now, from the people's point of view there is of course no difference at all — but from our point of view, the first group are “victims of terrorism” and the second group, equally innocent and equally dead and equally uninvolved, are “collateral damage” — unfortunate but acceptable deaths in a war.

Anyway, do read the article — it's short and really simple easy reading, so I'm not asking you to read anything difficult. Its arguments are to-the-point and quite pure.

Remember how you all got warned that July 4th there'd be huge attacks? Well, July 4th has come and gone with not a single terrorist attack, so what are the fear-mongers to do? They've now issued new warnings — September 11th, 2002 is the next big attack apparently. Set yourself on “fear mode” until then folks! Whatever you do, don't question GeorgeAnother Bush, Another RecessionBush.

I wanted to link to this story again… I know I've talked about my problems with farm subsidies before, both in the US and in Canada, but it's really an important world issue that people tend to overlook. Every dollar in farm subsidies handed to farmers here is ten dollars taken from West African farmers (where do you think our excess grain gets dumped?). That's right — farm subsidies have little to do with protecting farmers. Farm subsidies primary action is to keep the third world poor and unstable, thereby allowing us to extend this global pyramid scheme a little longer.

Finally, what does it matter, we're fucked anyway. Assuming we keep consuming and destroying at our current pace, we'll have used up all of the Earth's resources by 2050… I do have a little good news though — last Thursday the survey of the BME homestead in New Brunswick was completed, and this week we'll do the aerial photos. You thought we'd forgotten that project? Not at all!

Working on the railroad…

I'm working on an image update this morning, but I did want to draw people's attention to just a few quick stories… As you know, the US has said that if the Palestinians waver even slightly from Bush's orders, that the millions of dollars of support they are offered will be immediately withdrawn. However, the US has announced that even if Israel does things opposite to Bush's guidelines, it will still be given BILLIONS of dollars in payments.

The question is why? This article asks,

What does the Israeli government, Sharon, the Mossad, or any other such zionist organization have on the US president and the US congress such that they do not dare to come to their senses and tell Sharon to cease and desist his genocide against the Palestinians or the US will stop the flow of arms and treasure to his pipsqueak lump in the desert middle east.

That aberration in the sand has absorbed over 100 billion dollars of US taxpayer goods, arms, money so far, and is slavering for more. There seems to be only one explanation for this one-sided situation. Something or someone is blackmailing the administration and congress to do the bidding of a foreign government.

What could a blackmail of this nature be based on? Is it shameful deeds, as it was with Bill Clinton? Is it the fear of power and money? Or is it simply a quid pro quo - you vote the way I tell you and I will get you elected. What other answer can there be as to why the most powerful nation in the world rolls over and plays dead for the Middle East's most notorious collection of thieving saprophytes.

Now, that's a bit more extremely worded that I can entirely agree with, but I think the core question is solid: why does Israel have so much control over the US? Even when it's absolutely against the States' best interest, Israel still calls the shots, and as far as anyone can tell, the Israeli lobby in the US has more power than the US citizen voting population. Weird.

Well, least they have a “secret peace plan“. Yee ha.

On a more humorous level — and this story is a day old now so you probably know about it — Bush and PM Aznar of Spain sat down at the G-8 summit here in Canada during one of the rest breaks and started chatting. Bush then says to Aznar, “I've been working out — I can run four kilometers in six minutes and forty-five seconds.”

That's a sustained rate of about 35 kph, and would dramatically beat the current world record… Aznar wasn't phased though, and said to Bush, “Well then! This is the first time we have beat the United States at something, as I can run ten kilometers in five minutes and twenty seconds!”

Not that Bush noticed, but that put Aznar at a sustained speed of 113 kph on foot… and completing the run about five times faster than the current world record. It's good to know that the world has such physically — and mentally — fit leaders, isn't it?
