Getting ready to set up an Etsy store

You can uncensor the wax genitalia below if you click the photo, but instead or additionally you can read the rest of this entry and see some more of the recent candle work I’ve been doing. I’m slowly creating more molds and slowly creating more final stock as well so that in the new year I can finally put them up for sale (although a couple of lucky early adopters have already bought pieces from me).

Yeah bring on the dickhead jokes. It’s just sitting up there for the picture though. Don’t tell me you’ve never rested someone’s junk on your head for the right photo.

First of all, I wanted to again mention that I got a new order of beeswax. The original stuff that I’d gotten way back when was German. The quality is wonderful but the colour is quite light and the scent, while most definitely natural beeswax, is quite light as well. The skull on the right in the pictures below is the German beeswax. More recently I ordered some Canadian beeswax (left skull), which is a deep orange, and has a wonderful honey smell that, to me, is what beeswax is “supposed to” smell like and look like. The pricing is about the same so this is definitely what I’ll continue ordering. So far I’ve cast three skulls (one German, two Canadian) and tomorrow I’m going to cast two of them in the cheaper soy wax.

I also made a couple of subincision candles. Bet you haven’t seen those before! I had to mount the wick a little far back in the head — about where a small reverse PA would come out. If it was deeper it would look weird, and if it was shallower, the wick would be practically visible in the subincision and it would burn down silly-fast. Anyway, this was a lot of fun.

Those pictures are slightly blurry — it’s quite something in person and very detailed. Those that like this sort of thing will be really happy I think. That said, these are not the final copies, because ‘J’ has made the wonderful and generous offer of sending some bigger and better castings that can be used for fun projects like this. That’s another thing I’ll be looking forward to while I’m in the super-boring locked-down hospital ward (I’m not allowed visitors, even though it’s the holidays).

Other than that, Caitlin and I went to a talent show at Nefarious’s school where she and some friends did a singing performance, and after supper we went sledding again, and much more fun stuff. Caitlin and I watched Survivor as we have for, what, twenty-something seasons, and I was super-relieved to see that the finale takes place the day before my hospital check-in. I was totally paranoid that I was going to miss it. I think my priorities are messed up. I once skipped out on going to play poker with Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith because I didn’t want to miss the show. Yeah…

Anyway, I’m running around like a madman for the next few days trying to get every last minute thing done. We’ll see if I have time to post.

Kevin Smith was just talking about you a few weeks ago on one of his Podcasts with Jason Mewes. If I can remember the exact one I’ll link it. I’m pretty sure it was one of the Jay and Silent Bob get old, podcasts.

Our local honey co has huge (huge) chunks of beeswax for great prices. I’ve used it for candles and soaps and it is awesome, smells like honey.

They were talking about sounding and sub incisions. He told the story about working with you and Rachel on clerks 2 after you guys won the walk on roll. He was talking about your ears and how normal and nice you guys were, compared to all the prim and propped people he’s met.

Kevin seems to be fascinated with ‘genital mutilation’ (his words, not mine) and talks quite a bit about mods, you, Rachel & BME. Forgetting it’s name. though. I’ll link all the episodes as I come across them in my continuous re-listen.

Guys, please do specify when Kevin talked about this, I listen to all his podcasts but usually in bed so I do tend to doze through them a bit!

Ok, I found it: Jay and Silent Bob Get Old, episode 8,’When I’m With Mewes’ at around the 36 minute mark. It’s about 4 minutes of misunderstandings.

    I wonder if there’s more?

Wow Shannon, that's really annoying! What is it, 1997 on Geocities? Retroweb is NOT cool!
