I’m a big fan of the auto-tune the news folks (and I like their latest video based on recent internet memes), and there are a few great teams using found footage combined with auto-tune to create something new — John Boswell’s Carl Sagan-themed Symphony of Science project for example (you may also know his Billy Mays auto-tune tribute). Below are his two science-themed videos, which I first saw a few days ago in a discussion of the movie “2001″ if I remember right, but have been viral for some time so you may have already seen them as well.
A still more glorious dawn awaits
Not a sunrise, but a galaxy rise
A morning filled with 400 billion suns
The rising of the milky wayThe Cosmos is full beyond measure of elegant truths
Of exquisite interrelationships
Of the awesome machinery of natureI believe our future depends powerfully
On how well we understand this cosmos
In which we float like a mote of dust
In the morning skyHow lucky we are to live in this time
The first moment in human history
When we are in fact visiting other worlds
The surface of the earth is the shore of the cosmic ocean
Recently we’ve waded a little way out
And the water seems inviting
I’m this guy standing on a planet
Really I’m just a speck
Compared with a star, the planet is just another speck
To think about all of this
To think about the vast emptiness of space
There’s billions and billions of stars
Billions and billions of specksThe beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it
But the way those atoms are put together
The cosmos is also within us
We’re made of star stuff
We are a way for the cosmos to know itself

I’ve been a fan of these for a while, it’s so awesome to see them on your blog.
You have fantastic taste in music. I remember seeing your entry about Green Grass of Tunnel, by Mum (which was what got me into that band in the first place).
I’d not yet seen these – Thank you for introducing me to these Shannon.
I might be having a particularly girly day, but they’re pretty moving :)
I almost didnt watch, usually autotune is just silly. That was very uplifting; I’m gonna share. Thanks.
Funny I read this entry earlier today, and just now I came across this :
