I bid on this car on eBay while I was in Costa Rica, and I was happy to see that I won the auction — being the only bidder. It’s a 1973 Saab Sonett III, a really fun, rare, odd little car. I should have it plated and on the road some time next week. The picture doesn’t do it (or me) justice… it’s really cute. I actually saw this exact car years ago at the Carlisle import and replica show, so I was surprised to see it turn up here in Toronto.

It begs for racing stripes to my taste
Is that garage filled with all your cars?
VERY cool
Scott, no that’s the dealership’s storage garage (thus the bad picture). The only other car I have on the road right now is my anti-zombie truck.
If you don’t already know about it I can tip you about https://www.saabsunited.com , mostly new but also older Saabs.
Congratulations on a great buy !! Treat her well.
do you need to get it appraised for insurance? if so, i have the best vintage/custom appraisal guy…he did my 56 studebaker and my friends 63 galaxie and he was insanely detailed and knowledgeable. love him and will use him with all of my collectable cars. allan is awesome!!

No, because it’s such an inexpensive car I’m only getting 3rd party on it — no theft/repair/etc.
Great choice.
I’ve got a 1967 Model 96 with the two-stroke engine it it.
I sold my ’73 Sonett III back in 2005 to buy something a tad more modern.
Look into a Weber Carb if that thing still has the original Ford on it.
The dream is still a two-stroke Sonett II. Best of both worlds.
Nice car… You may want to subscribe to

Classic Car Insurance is CHEAP compared to regular car insurance. My Sonett costs me about US$100/yr to insure and I’ve got a high agreed value on it with Haggerty! Call them and a few of the other classic car insurers for rates — not GEICO, State Farm, etc.
Love your car! I had a 1971 Saab Sonnett and sold it when I left the continent. A decision I will always regret. These are fantastic little cars!!
