Some Cuba Photos

We had a great time in Cuba, and I’d definitely recommend the resort (Melia Cayo Santa Maria), which is super cheap right now if you book it through one of the various budget vacation sites. As well as hanging out on the beach (and getting mighty burned), we went sailing (the big concrete ghost ship was a strange floating molasses dump that had been there for fifty plus years and was totally toxic) and snorkeling, and took a tour of various farms and the countryside, and a not-too-interesting tour of a cigar factory. Everyone was very nice, and completely tri-lingual (fluent in Spanish, French, and English), so it was easy getting around and communicating, but the prison-island reality of the communist state was a little unsettling. I got some writing done, but less than I should have. It’s not so easy to write on vacation. The other good news on return is that it looks like Nefarious is going to be spending the summer here in Toronto after all, so we’ll have to make some quick contingency plans and maybe plan a couple more trips.

Hey Shannon, could you post a bunch more underwater pictures if you get time? I’m curious to see what the coral and reef look like there.

Do you have any more info on the molasses dump and do you know if there are there any others around the island at all?

Wow Shannon, that's really annoying! What is it, 1997 on Geocities? Retroweb is NOT cool!
