I made another Javascript-based animated webpage. To be clear, there’s no Flash on this at all even though it has lots of effects that would normally be done in Flash. It has a multi-level animated background, a multi-level animated foreground, animated and state-changing widgets, handles resizing, should work in all current version browsers, and has clearly documented code if you want to see how it works. There are definitely still things on the to-do list, including a cleaner load routine that puts up a “loading” screen until the images are loading. (Pre-loader patched in!) I left it without that for now in part to illustrate how it works. Anyway, here it is, click away. Pure Javascript, no Flash.

really great work shannon… i like the design a lot. it’s kept pretty simple but got something special…
you could easily put this up on a seperate domain and start selling some of your pictures if you like to.

Thanks :) There are some things in the design that are a bit “off”, but I’m pretty happy with it as a technology demonstrator.
I’m quickly hacking together a video game (breakout/arkanoid type) done entirely in javascript for practice right now that I’ll probably post some time tomorrow… It’s surprisingly easy to do things that I’d assumed would be much more suited to Flash.
That looks Great Shannon! I’m really impressed, especially since its done using JS as opposed to flash. Flash IMHO is a pain in the ass and takes too long to load, but this was fast. Its also very vibrant and exceptionally well suited to your painting as well :)
Im sure this isnt the place but I have seen your into MMA and seem to only watch UFC witch is ridiculous. Stikeforce had a nice re opening tonight on PPV. But if your not down with buying the PPV although its prob one of the best of the year in total. Get sopcast !

Awesome site Shannon. I’ve actually been seeing more and more javascript driven “flash” sites as of late and I think there great.
I’ve actually started featuring them in my blog as I come across them, will definitely be including yours in my next post on the topic.
