Eyes Glued

CNN’s “holograms” are too funny. All the new “upgrades” are hilarious.

How crazy is it that so far it looks like McCain is winning? If that keeps up, and he actually wins tonight in the most long-shot success ever, how many Americans are really going to believe the election was real? How many people around the world. Oh the suspense!!!

One of the things that’s hard for kids is finding videogames that are suitable for the younger ages. Very little is made for the five year old bracket… Today we picked up Little Big Planet, a mix of puzzle game, platform scroller, doll builder, and physics sandbox, and it’s both fun for adults, and intuitive and amusing enough for Nefarious as well. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a first videogame for ages five and up (and like I said, any age should enjoy it).

I made a delicious supper today… broccoli and zucchini and garlic and fat udon noodles with a sauce made of lemon, balsamic fig, and soy sauce (I’ve been using the dregs of everything lately to empty my fridge), with tilapia in a ton of butter. It’s no wonder Google keeps serving weight loss ads to me.

I’m just as sick of the hype about Obama being the first black president, seeing black people on TV crying because now they FINALLY feel that the white mans tyranny ends and they are truly free.. Come the fuck on! Slavery ended in 1865 and ever since then blacks with no commitment and willpower has used the “It’s only because I’m black” excuse for not getting their shit together. Guess Obama just made that excuse invalid! ;)

No matter if it’s the president or the guy serving you at the local pizza place, skin color should mean no more than shoe size. And in the case of a new president, I’m a bit more interested in hearing about his political agenda than what color he is! I can’t stand people who makes a big deal about it, whether it’s black or white racists. If you really need to hate someone then please find a good reason to do so..

    Also, Nygaard:

Slavery might have ended during the 1800′s, but that by no means meant rights for the black community. Jim Crow laws? AKA: Super segregation, literacy tests and such. It wasn’t until 1965/64 that the voting rights act and civil rights act came to pass. So only a little over 40 years ago were rights truly given, and even at that time, imagine the generation that all of a sudden had to go to school and use bathrooms with blacks. That didn’t go away as soon as the laws were created.

So yes, there is a huge social prejudice against blacks that hasn’t quite died out yet (because those people from 1960s are still alive and spreading their ideas)

This race really allowed the hate and racism to come bubbling back to the surface. Scarier even, here in California, where gay marriage has been legal since May, with 95% of the ballots tallied as of this post, a Constitutional ban on gay marriage is passing with 52.1%.

Your a little person in a town of animals and you have to interact with the animals. You can dig up fossils and take them to the museum to find out what they are, you can catch fish from the river or ocean, you collect fruit for money and make friends. It’s really a fun little game. I love playing it on occasion as well. You also get different visitors to your town. Here is the site page if you want to look into it https://www.animal-crossing.com/wildworld/

Admitted, there is no possible way that I could empathize with the experience of being a black American. But what I can do is see the whole race issue in a larger and objective perspective, primarily because I’m not a part of it, and the solution to it from my point of view is very simple: LET IT GO!
As long as people, especially the media world, is making skin color such a big deal it will never end. Haven’t Americans learned anything from history? It is an unsolvable problem as long as it is kept alive, so what needs to be done is putting it to rest with all the other historical issues that no longer matters to anyone.
From 9. april 1940 to 5. may 1945 my country was occupied by Nazi Germany under the lead of Adolf Hitler, and I have spend much time listening to my grandfather telling stories about how it was living in Denmark back then. People were very poor, arrested and put in concentration camps for no reason and those who refused to live under the Nazi regime were liquidated by German soldiers. Not that far away from how people of color was treated in America back then.. But to me and anyone else living in Denmark it is just history and no more. We don’t hate Germans for what they did back then, most Danes (including me) actually love Germans because they are very friendly, open and hard working people. In my job I talk to Germans almost every day and they are the nicest and most polite people ever.. What I don’t understand is, why it is so impossible for Americans to do the same thing blacks and white between. Why can’t history just be history and why is it always blown out of proportion when it comes to skin color?

A black president – and so what? I understand the whole “American Dream” thing, but isn’t that a bit old? A huge part of the most successful actors and musicians are black, the worlds best golf player is black and that goes for many other sports. Lewis Hamilton that just won the F1 World Cup and one of my biggest idols, Motocross and Supercross champion James “Bubba” Stewart, is also black. They are living what some would call The American Dream and has been doing it for a long time, and nobody I know even thinks about what color their skin is.

I really don’t get why it is made such a big deal..

That is not what I said at all, you make me sound racist and like I look down on people who works in pizza places.

The comment about “blacks with no commitment or willpower” was not a generalization, but about those who gladly use the “It’s only because I’m black” excuse BECAUSE they have no commitment or willpower. There are lots of white people with the same “problem” too, but they tend to just be white trash and live with it. Or at least that is my impression.
Anyway, the point was that I, as a man that works hard to achieve what I want in life, finds it pretty offensive when someone suggests that it is not all the work I put into my projects that pays off, but I’m having success simply because I’m white.

I’m sorry to say but that comes off as incredibly ignorant.

Germans may have once occupied your country, but you are not oppressed currently by Germans.

The fact is that minorities, blacks especially, have serious income disparity in the United States with whites. And more disturbingly, they have serious shortcomings in healthcare (not sure if you saw the recent articles on how blacks in America have significantly higher death rates after transplants than whites — or blacks in other countries). Same goes for education issues and much more. Don’t kid yourself into thinking that this is some “old news” that blacks can just “get over”. This is a serious and ongoing problem with huge lingering sociocultural problems.

And black people has just the same rights and opportunities as whites, correct? Then there should be no difference.. There are always a few supremacists in each camp drawing a lot of attention to themselves, trying to spoil the fun for everyone else. But are you seriously telling me that racism is still that big a problem in America, the country with the most mixed up population in the world?

Judged by how well black people are doing, achieving just the same things as white people, I’m having a hard time believing that it is actually that bad. It just doesn’t seem very likely that the difference is that big, given that so many has “reached the stars” and are living their dream. Not to mention that America just democratically elected a black president with 364 votes against his white competitors 163 votes. And if I remember correctly only about 12,3% of the American population is black, so statistically there must be a lot that doesn’t care about skin color at all, or at least not in a negative way.
I do know that life isn’t easy in USA if you are poor and have no education, especially when it comes to medical treatment. But isn’t that the same for all, no matter color?

How you speak is a very large misconception by many people. Just because slavery no longer exists does not mean it hasn’t impacted future generations.

Are you aware of the incredibly high stillbirth rate among black mothers in the US due to poor health care. Some cities actually have MASS grave sites for term babies, where mothers were unable to pay for proper burials.

If I were approached by a 20yr old black female from Alabama who claimed her baby’s death was caused due to her skin colour… I’d have to except that as truth.
