Part One: Our Zombie Costumes

Caitlin did her own makeup and Nefarious’s makeup, and helped me get my appliance glued on and then I did the remainder of my makeup. It was all done with a mix of regular face paint makeup, fake blood, liquid latex, and a latex appliance and spirit glue. The last three photos were taken after we returned, so as you can see it survived pretty well.

Hello Shannon, I’ve been a big fan of all your sites for a while, BME changed my life when I was 15, I just wanted to say that you are the perfect example of the type of daddy I want to be, I just learned this week that my girlfriend is pregnant! I really like all the things you do with your daughter, its inspiring!

Hey Shannon – how on earth did you make the gouged out eyes? I’d love to do that for Halloween. Any chance of a how-to/FAQ?

The eyes were really easy to do. It’s a latex “mask” (like a beauty/sleep mask in shape) with the eyes molded into it — I bought it at Malabar but you could make your own if you wanted, and black mesh to hide your actual eyes. You glue it on with spirit glue, blend the edges with liquid latex, and then apply makeup over the whole thing and your face. I’d actually use heavier makeup if I was going to do it again to hide the transition between latex and skin better.

I actually saw a couple people with the same face as me, which was a little embarrassing in the “you’re wearing the same prom dress as me” sort of way. I took pictures of some of the process and can post a full entry on that later today.
