I mentioned my distaste for the Conservative election ads here in Canada in a recent entry. Here is one of their latest ads, in which a bird flys over Liberal leader Stéphane Dion and shits on him. Seriously. This is an actual “official” ad (although it was later retracted and Stephen Harper “apologized”), not some joke ad or ad made by an Internet group. Pretty telling what they think the intellectual level of their supporters is.

I don’t think that Dion is a leader with the caliber to lead our country and paired with the superstition that if a bird shits on one, it is good luck. Perhaps that was the metaphor implied to the constituents who may choose to vote for him.
But I won’t be voting for Scary Steve in October. I doubt the majority of Toronto Danforth will be either. I’m with Layton all the way.
Stephane Dion was a BIZARRE choice of leader for the liberals… He’s got to be the most difficult to market and unappealing politician that a Canadian party has fielded in a long time. I don’t know what they were thinking handicapping themselves like that.
I’m with you though — Layton is 100% where my vote goes, especially being in Peggy Nash’s riding.
While I completely agree that it shows exactly what they think of the intelligence of their viewers (we got a flyer in the mail recently from the Gov about military spending with a picture of “old planes” and “new planes”… no info just a slightly bigger plane, totally along the same line as this nonsense)…. anyyyyyway
While I agree, I also find it HILARIOUS.
This is Canadian politics. It’s not US style “Thissss man may screw your dog when you’re not looking, DUN DUN DUN”. It’s crapping PUFFINS! CRAPPING PUFFINS. I was literally laughing out loud when I heard coverage about this today on the CBC. I hardly believed it the first time.
(“Seriously? Pooping puffin?”)
I loved it! Just like I love hearing them in session, sounds like a bunch of school children shouting. I can’t believe schools actually allow their children to take field trips and watch grown ups behave like that, particularly grown ups who are running the country. (Although maybe it’s a good thing, shows them what a farce it all is….)
Wow, I am rambling. The children are both asleep and I am actually awake past bedtime. I guess this is what happens.
I too don’t know why Stephane was selected as a leader, aside from that maybe that they need a pawn to fight the opposition’s knights while they rebuild themselves internally.
The Liberals (ok, I’m still a Martin crony at heart I guess) did and may still do have some very good ideas on how to run this country, but right now they are not the right candidate to do so.
Would you vote for Marc Garneau for PM, ever?
Twwly: Parliament is just a big pile of fuddle duddle.

I wish I could behave like they do at work for the salary they receive.

Scienkoptic,
A caption for that video could be something like this:
“Now when the kids ask where babies come from, the parents don’t need to say anything: they just point and let them shoot out.”
It makes you wonder:
* Where is the other one? Maybe it was removed after someone went in and got stuck and after many hours they needed the jaws of life to retrieve the person.
* I’d hate to be around when a little kid comes out of that and says “It’s sticky in there” (EWWW)
*I’m amazed its still up – You’d think they’d pull it out of there.
*perfect caption: penis pumping gone incredibly wrong.
:P
