Waterworld!

I mentioned our Toronto hail a couple days ago, so my friend Lane sent me these photos that he took in the West Edmonton Mall yesterday. They got large hail — almost an inch across — and the mall got minor flooding, with about half a foot of water covering the floors. Then looting and anarchy broke out! Oh wait, no, that would be too rude for Canada.

I notice in one of those pics a lady walking the mall with no shoes on. Go figure.

    It brings up a question:
Most places have a sign that states “No shirt/ no shoes/no service” —- My question is — what happens when a person has shoes and a shirt but aren’t wearing anything else —– can they still get service? ;P

Doesn’t look like it really affected the shoppers desire to buy stuff, or at least walk around the mall looking for stuff to buy…

Interesting that the shoppers are still there paddling around in it.

If that had happened in the UK, I bet the authorities would have cleared the mall and cordoned it off – on health and safety grounds!

Last time it happened (2004 I think), they had to evacuate the mall, which is something like 30,000 people!

  7. The sad part is the next day it was business as usual, I believe when I walked through the area by the ice palace only two stores were still closed. Most had tile or concrete flooring with tile at the base of the walls so no real damage was done. Thankfully it was clean run off water from the roof and not sewage backing up so there was no real health risk.
