I did a quick test animation today. Here it is:
Music is White As A Dove by Kira Lynn Cain.
Everything in the animation is straight off my (still) camera with no editing other than cropping — even the credits. It was made by printing out frames from old footage of early atom bomb tests and I think the Enola Gay and pilot Paul Tibbets (that clip was cut too short — I wish I’d used a few more frames to capture him better). I then glued these printouts to various things and took pictures of them one by one. It was then assembled in Microsoft Movie Maker (I have literally no “real” movie editing software on this computer). Total time to make was about three and a half hours.
Anyway, it got me thinking about interesting things to do with this technique and when I have time I’ll do a full-length music video… It’s a little hard too because I have a really cheap tripod so I had to do some after-the-fact image stabilization by hand.

Sorry it’s youtube grainy… I think if you click the video you get a slightly higher quality one.
Why are you so creative!?! hahah Excellent work Shannon!
Shannon, you are easily the most creative person from your generation…
Taking pictures of movies and turning them into movies!
Like oats that horses have already eaten.
i really like that. have you ever seen this movie, i think it’s called ‘history of the atom bomb’ or something…but it’s narrated by william shatner and comes with a par of 3D glasses, neat!
Hey Shannon, you should check out https://www.vimeo.com You can upload stuff with higher resolution/quality with the HD feature. Most of the stuff that I’ve watched using that come out crystal clear.
That is the sickest thing i have ever seen..
The footage of the pilot was actually my favourite part by far. I think the fact that it cut off “too early” made it ultra-creepy. Stop-motion makes our brain work hard to fill in the blanks in between and to have him be interrupted while turning to face the camera plays serious tricks with my brain. Like only his ghost is making eye contact.
Very impressive for three and a half hours of work!
That’s pretty cool.
wow very great work :D
Im impressed :)
I thought you used some good movie editing software till i see that you used ms movie maker.
I have some movie making software to make some good movies.
my fav one is Mirage.
It’s been pulled from You Tube by the looks of it :(
What happened?
Looks to me like it’s still there…
