“Old Lady” Nesting Dolls

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while — I have been extremely busy. Anyway, I wanted to post the final version of my nesting doll project. Continue reading for the whole thing. The concept behind the dolls is that the song can be sung as they’re opened one by one.

1-oldlady.jpg

I know an old lady…

2-fly.jpg

Who swallowed a fly.
I don’t know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she’ll die.

3-spider.jpg

I know an old lady who swallowed a spider,
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her.

4-bird.jpg

I know an old lady who swallowed a bird,
How absurd to swallow a bird!

5-cat.jpg

I know an old lady who swallowed a cat,
Imagine that, to swallow a cat!

6-dog.jpg

I know an old lady who swallowed a dog,
My, what a hog, to swallow a dog!

7-goat.jpg

I know an old lady who swallowed a goat,
Just opened her throat and swallowed a goat!

8-cow.jpg

I know an old lady who swallowed a cow,
I wonder how she swallowed a cow?!
She swallowed the cow to catch the goat,
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog,
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don’t know why she swallowed the fly,
I guess she’ll die.

9-horse.jpg

I know an old lady who swallowed a horse…

10-skull.jpg

…she’s dead, of course!!

John – This is just my (and Caitlin’s) art and homesteading blog. When I have access to Zentastic again (argh, that had better be soon!), I’ll do my day-to-day blogging there.

That is so awesome. I was always very creeped out by that song; so much so that I can’t even get behind the concept of turducken.

This is so weird: as the the animals get larger, the puppets get smaller. To me this inversion compliments the “size vs swalloing”-problem of the song.

There’s not much I concider as grotesque as cooking one dead carcass inside of another.

I have however, always wondered how you’d possibly carve such a travesty.

this is really awesome, I always thought it was karma for eating all those poor animals. At first I thought the horse was a platypus
