Edible Art

Since marzipan was on sale at the grocery store, and I have a cupboard full of food coloring, today’s project was making sculptures with the marzipan and then painting them… and then eating them!

Wow, that’s incredibly detailed for something you just ate! I’m glad you took pictures. I bet Ari had fun with that one. Speaking of Ari having fun with your creations, did you and her ever do HER nesting doll set?

You know, this is really strange, but when I was halfway asleep last night I was wondering when you were going to do a food related entry again. I had been missing them.

Haha, Jenn, honestly, short of dumping a kid in front of the TV, it’s a lot easier to do fun stuff all the time than not!

Marzipan is one of my all time favorite treats. My German Grandfather gave it to us as kids, the kind shaped like fruit. Once in a while I crave it and buy the roll kind from the supermarket like you used and just eat slices of it! My kids won’t eat it though.

  9. These look sooo tasty and fun, but i have just never been able to stomach marzipan.
I think it’s because it sometimes tricks you into thinking it’s plain ol’ icing, then when you munch it your lambasted with an Almondy attack.

Still, these (espesh the Elephant) are a treat.

OMG I love these! I’ve actually never had marzipan, and I was unaware you could buy it in rolls, I thought it came pre-done already, all the time.

    Neat job guys :-)

I didn’t even eat mine at all. I don’t like marzipan, give me whole raw almonds any day.

My mom used to give me a marzipan pig every year for Christmas and I never at one of them. I’d just save them ’til they’d disappear. Come to think of it, I don’t remember throwing one out. Weird.

I’ve never had marzipan in my life. I don’t even think I’ve ever seen it in a store either!

I’m happy that Jade is finally getting to an age where she enjoys fun activities more than running around like a maniac and throwing things at me! It’s making things pretty fun around my house too :)

  22. Marzipan is so good! My aunt used to get me marzipan pigs all the time, but their expressions looked so sad that I couldn’t bring myself to eat them. Then my sister would bite off their heads and I’d eat the rest… and they were delicious.
PS. that is possibly the cutest elephant ever.
