This blog will document the journey toward a new and better life and related and not-so-related thoughts… A place to record adventures in homesteading, as well as various creations along the way. The pictures from this entry are from the wondeful and inspiring (and unfortunately out of print) 1971 classic, The Ex-Urbanite’s Complete & Illustrated Easy Does-It First Time Farmer’s Guide: A Useful Book by William Kaysing, which I’ll post a full review of in the future.

It’s not only a more survivable life in case of any kind of catastrophe but in my opinion, a more genuine and enjoyable one. I say that having a total of 3 hens, 2 roosters and 2 tomato plants… Here’s to it.
in 40 minutes it will be your birthday in sweden.
hope you can manage to have a good one.
I am also striving towards a life more suited to the one to present. Through struggling with a chronic illness in my life, I have began an amazing and mind blowing journey over the last year or two examining just how unnatural and unhealthy western society has become. It truly is toxic… but I also have amazing hope as I see many people gravitate towards a more simple and back to basic life styles.
my mom has this book floating around somewhere in her library, this and the original Firfeox series, made for some fun projects as a kid…..
Yess.
I want to be there. Can I move in with you right now?
ahh..i think your smiling …maybe?
sorry…stalking you a little i guess.
nice alt site, will make this part of my website route …hahahaha, jeez..anyways, nice page, and happy birthday?
fuck…ahh…well regardless of circumstances, im wishin you one anyways..or at least a laugh at this post.
peace.
Happy birthday. May it be the genesis of all the things you need and want.
I remember this book being right next to a well worn copy of the “Mother Earth News Almanac” on my parents’ bookshelf growing up. I highly recommend trying to find an old copy of that somewhere.
Good luck on this new adventure.
Much love and respect to you Shannon…
Happy Birthday… just Chill and take it easy…
xox
my life’s dream is to live naked by a river with my dogs and my loved ones.
I’d love to roam naked, however those whom I have told were fearing they would go blind from the sight of my pasty white butt.
Shannon,
Greetings and Salutations!
May peace and tranquility come to you in this otherwise hectic time.
So you are homesteading? You are very blessed. I wish I could do so, but I can not do that on my own.
I find it amusing that the horse being ridden by the naked man, is not naked.
Go ahead and live the dream Shannon…We all know you have well and truly earnt it. :)
Thanks so much for being an inspiration on several levels. Ever since you posted about Earthships…. Compost worms, rainbarrel irrigation, seed saving, culturing foods, im building a library of skills.
Cool! I myself have recently started a somewhat similar journey. A shit load of work buying a small farm, but I must say I love the quiet. But I must say, I have always seen you as a city dweller. ;) Ha-ha, as if I know you!
Good luck with it all and may peace and quiet soon fill your mind and soul.
