While I was gone, Rachel had been handling it, but since I got back I hadn't had a chance to update the newsfeed so it went unchanged for a half week. It was sort of an experiment as well; I wondered, if I left it, would people step up and start submitting stories, or would it simply result in complaints.
Big surprise, it simply resulted in complaints.
Anyway, it's been updated. Here's a few of the stories that I thought were more interesting from this set:
- British Men Like their Body Modifications, Especially Penis Enlargement – OK, the story isn't particularly interesting, but I thought the title was really funny… and “BetterHumans.com” is a great domain name and a site that I think some BME readers might quite enjoy.
- The Art of Tattooing – History article.
- Hey Goober! – I just thought this was a really “cute” story.
- Baby's lobes a site for sore ears – This is in the newsfeed as “how to legally molest your baby”. I saw another version of this story that included the phrase “avoid piercing guns” but I notice most papers have edited out that warning.
- Saddam Hussein bio. This story flooded the news searches for tattoo: a brief bio piece describing Saddam's tattoo, three small dots near his wrist. The funny thing is, I have the same tattoo, but on my other arm (the only tattoo that was covered by the blackwork I have now).
- Tattoo Who? Amber Johnson follows in her father's footsteps – A real friendly piece about a second generation tattoo artist… I think we even have a couple on IAM!
- After devastating fire, local artist makes fresh start – Another nice feel-good piece. I liked that they called him “local artist” rather than something like “local tattooist”.
Anyway, I hope that cuts down on my hatemail on the “why haven't you updated the newsfeed” subject, at least until tomorrow. I've got to get to work on some offline things for now so I'm not doing a non-BME news update, but it's not as if the lies will only last for a day.
