And I have registered firearms, which are LOCKED at all times, but I had to give the police VISUAL CONFIRMATION that they were locked up….again…beyond hassle.

Sadly, my family is going through a similar situation right now, what really is irritating is that I have to prove my INNOCENCE. And it sucks, but we’ve dug our heels in and will fight to the bitter end!

Twwly – They knew they would have to be unregistered firearms because he had no registered firearms. Of course in reality he only had a toy gun. If he had registered firearms, it might have been better for him in some ways because it’s all inside legal then, and presumably if he’s registering and doing things by the book, everything would have been locked up. That said, when you register your firearms, you give the authorities blanket consent to search your house at any time without a warrant to make sure you’re following all the gun rules. I can definitely see why decent people choose not to register.

…But of course if you’re paranoid, historically gun registries were used to round up all the Jews’ guns, disarming them prior to turning them into slave labor and worse.

How do they automatically assume it’s an unregistered firearm? And would have happened if he HAD registered firearms?

His kids are always going to remember being taken into child services, even if only for an afternoon. That all of this could have been stopped by a reasonable conversation, instead of checking bureaucratic idiot boxes is so infuriating and terrifying all that the same time……
