My contribution to the rigging debate is to suggest that you buy some slings and karabiners from a climbing shop and hang the ropes from those. Slings are made to go around stuff like that. Or – if its a permanent arrangement – in rope access we use wire slings in plastic tubing for moving horizontally along I-beams. They’re probably the most durable and worry-free option.
