It’s been reported tonight that the officer shown in that video footage has been identified and suspended from duty.

And on the subject of traffic offences, a jury at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday convicted a police car driver of causing death by dangerous driving (he’d driven in pursuit of a car at 94mph in a built-up area without siren or blue lights and killed a teenage girl who stepped out into the road ahead). He’s now facing a prison sentence.

So, just occasionally karma catches up with these police officers who think they’re above the law.

just found out today that a kid was arrested in my town because he was pushing his friend in a wheelchair and they were not on the sidewalk. it was during a demonstration and it was near impossible for them to get onto the sidewalk. that is how we treat someone helping the handicapped!

another guy was also arrested for uttering a dirty word under his breath on a bus. what happened to fucking free speech?

if you dont have at least $10 or an ID they can arrest and hold you w/o charges.
i am so sick of cops looking at my pierced face, staring at me like they can beat me down anytime they feel like it. dont dare stare back!

but the problem isnt only the police, its the whole system! you really think only 1 in 30 is bad? wake up!

Gotcha, thanks. To be honest, I’ve only had time to watch the video. Regardless, seeing that video did not start my day off in the right direction.

Chris — as I understand it from reading what I could find on the case is that what you see in the video is the second one.

Shannon, I watched the video but only saw the man get knocked down once, then he was helped up by a non-police, then he walked away. You said the police knocked him down, pulled him back up and beat him down again. Help me out, where is the second beat down?

I was always getting arrested and locked up in my teens for stupid petty crimes. I was threatened by the police a couple of times. They told me that if I didn’t speak up they had ways of making me talk, and one of them threatened to punch me in the head on more than one occasion.

It’s a true saying: “There’s more crooks on the force than there is off it.”

I’m not saying they’re all bent though, some of them play a fair game and they’re decent people.

Im from the uk. If your ever in trouble ie, being attacked, its common knowledge that you dont go to the police for help as they’ll arrest you and fabricate a charge because its easier. I was once stripped searched walking to work to teach me a lesson for answering back.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Robert Dziekanski, who was not only tasered to death in Vancouver, but has had the RCMP attempting to do a post-mortem hatchet job portraying him as a drunken, violent man.

thats exactly right.

my first major exposure to how sick the police state is is when we caught a officer red handed in a 13yo friend’s bushes watching her take a shower. we complained to the chief of police and got into alot of trouble for it. not long after, the same officer threatened to kill my friend if he ever brought it up again. a few years after that (after i left town) some folks jumped him, handcuffed him and beat him for awhile in the woods. the story goes that he had been molesting a few of thier (underage) friends for months while holding blackmail over them. he hasnt been heard of in that town for decades now.

I agree that police brutality is an issue. How ever for every bad cop there is 30 good cops. I know many cops in my city who are great people, covered in tattoos and in bands. I myself considered being a police officer. At any rate good blog
