The job of the artist is to stimulate the eye of the viewer into moving over the painting in a certain way so as to elicit a desired response.

It’s hard to start with nothing and create something, it takes imagination, talent and skill so it feels cheap when someone looks at a finished product and tries to dismiss it as a doodle!
