Müller became famous when he and his “mercenaries” from Kommando 52 helped the Congo gouvernement to get hold of the Simba Rebellion in the mid 60s.
There were also involved regular troops (led by Müller) as well as Belguim Paratroopers (300 against 7000 – and they won!).
They safed many lives of missionaries and pilgrims, not counting all the innocent civil population.
Though “mercenaries” may be looked at suspiciously, he has been (in my oppinion) a great soldier that simply did what had to be done and what most “left orientated” people that sit safe at home and believe everything the also “left orientated” press is giving them to eat, just condemn because they don’t have neither the guts to take any responsability and waste their time with endless discussions, nor have the guts to do what he has done.
Remember an old Rhodesian saying: That’s Africa!
